A turbine wheel, which is one of the components found within a turbo system, is spun using the force found in the exhaust gas. The turbine wheel then spins the compressor wheel. The function of the compressor is to suck-in large amounts of air from the environment and compress it.

In effect, waste gasses from the exhaust system spins the turbo, blowing more air into the engine to make more power.

The Intercooler Is Key To Higher Horsepower

Because the air is compressed, together with the heat from the exhaust gas; the air in the compressor increases in temperature (very high temperature). This is why the air must be cooled first before it is used. This is why it is passed through an air cooler (generally known as an intercooler).

The function of the intercooler is to lower the air temperature, which makes it gain higher density. Then it is directed into the engine. The moment it is redirected in the engine; more fuel is added to create more horsepower. This makes a car engine gain speed and power.

Inspection of Commercial Vehicles

A Report must be made of the following items:

A Dot inspection should include reviewing the fuel system, exhaust, and brakes of a commercial truck, as well as its inspection reports, steering mechanisms, suspension, and tires.

The inspection also includes checking the emergency equipment, rims, wheels, coupling devices, rear vision mirrors, windshield wipers, horn, reflectors, lighting devices, parking (hand) brake, and trailer brake connections.

Malfunctioning combination valves may cause wheels to lock up unexpectedly.

Brake Shoes & Pads Wear Items

Brake shoes and pads can be made of metal, organic materials or ceramic, while the drums and disc rotors they press against are constructed using metal.

Because shoes and pads create the friction that stops the vehicle, they gradually wear out over time and will wear away completely with overuse, causing the metal of the cylinders and calipers they’re attached to grind against the drums and rotors, damaging them.

Some pads have metal strips attached that make a warning whistle-like sound when the pads become too worn; however, this strip will only sound when the vehicle is in motion, and the brakes aren’t applied.
